There is lots of wildlife on Isle Royale, so be ready for scat, animal footprints, and because of the rain, lots of mud on the trails. Also be ready to see the occasional moose on the trail, or if you're really lucky, you might spot one of the rare wolves!
Isle Royale has many trails, but there's 3 main ones, Minong, Greenstone, and Feldtmann. Minong and Greenstone trails take about a week to complete and Feldtmann trail is about a 2-3 day long journey. At Greenstone, you can visit Mt. Desor (1,394 feet tall), its endpoints are Rock Island and Windigo. Minong is more challenging. It starts at McCargoe Cove (which is also a campground) and it ends at Windigo. Lastly, Feldtmann trail starts and ends at Windigo. It contains more lowland hiking. It also connects through Island Mine and Siskiwitt Bay Campground. It goes through both Greenstone and Feldtmann Ridges. Be ready for rough conditions and be sure to try as many of the fun and nature-filled trails as you can!
